Weeks with zero sales — due to shipping delays, out-of-stocks, or irregular ordering — can affect how you measure velocity.- Excluding zero-sales weeks: Velocity is based on the average number of weeks with sales per store within your date filter. Useful when a period of out-of-stocks would otherwise distort the numbers, or when you want to describe velocity as “when it sells, it sells at this rate.”
- Including zero-sales weeks: Velocity is based on the total number of weeks in your date filter. Useful for a more conservative, realistic view, or for financial and demand forecasting.
