Attribution refers to characteristics assigned to products, stores, or transactions to enable meaningful analysis (such as product categories or store types). Retailers assign attributes to your data by default, but if you want to look at items or stores (or other types of data) in a way that is unique to your business, you can use custom attribution in Crisp Reporting Studio (CRS). For example, you may want to assign specific items or stores to account managers, so you can evaluate their performance. You could also want to view product or store names the way you refer to them internally, rather than how they are named in the retailer’s system. To set up custom attribution:
  • Determine the custom attributes you want to use, some examples include: custom categories, segments, brands, product names/numbers, store numbers/regions/formats.
  • Contact Crisp customer support and share your needs.
  • The Crisp team will create initial custom data tables for you that your team will manage and update.
Tip: As attribution can impact a range of reports and cause data to appear inaccurate if not properly formatted, we recommend delegating a small number of users at your organization (usually 1 or 2) who can manage custom attribution. CRS admins can manage custom attribution permissions on the User Administration screen.
  • Once setup, you can manage your custom attributes by selecting Tools > Update Data. We recommend creating an internal process to make sure that your custom attribution stays up-to-date when things change, such as new product launches. For a more detailed guide, see Managing store and product data with custom attribution.
Once setup is complete, you can begin using custom attribution. For a detailed guide, see Using custom attribution in your reports. Note: Custom attribution updates are a manual process that must be managed by your organization. If you have new products, you must update custom attribution for them in order to see them in reports where custom attribution is used. If you need new custom attributes added, please request them by contacting Crisp customer support.
