# Retention Analysis dashboards

> Track the health of every point of distribution and take action on at-risk and lost SKUs across the Dot Foods network.

The Retention Analysis dashboards track the health of all your points of distribution (PODs) — every SKU-customer combination — across the Dot Foods network. Use them to surface at-risk and lost distribution so you can take action before revenue impact grows.

## Retention Summary

Retention Summary gives you an overview of your total PODs broken down by status and product line.

### POD statuses

| Status | Definition |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **New** | A point of distribution created within the selected time period |
| **Existing** | An active POD with no status change — not at risk, not lost, and not new |
| **At-Risk** | A POD where the time since the last order is greater than 1 standard deviation above average |
| **Recovered** | A POD that was previously lost but has since received a new order |
| **Lost** | A POD where the time since the last order is greater than 2 standard deviations above average — effectively a void |

### How at-risk and lost statuses are calculated

Crisp at Dot uses standard deviation to measure whether a point of distribution is ordering on its normal schedule. Each SKU-customer combination has an average time between orders based on its historical ordering pattern.

* **At-Risk** — The time since the last order is greater than 1 standard deviation above average. More time than normal has passed since this customer last placed an order for this SKU.
* **Lost** — The time since the last order is greater than 2 standard deviations above average. The POD is considered lost and is effectively a void.

### Summary visualization

The dashboard displays your total POD count for the selected time period, then breaks it down by product line showing the count of new, existing, at-risk, recovered, and lost PODs in each.

## Retention Detail

Retention Detail is the most actionable view in Crisp at Dot. It provides a row for every SKU-customer combination with the data you need to prioritize recovery efforts.

### Table columns

| Column | Description |

| Receiving Customer | The Dot customer receiving the shipment |

| Product | The specific SKU |
| POD Average Days Between Sales | The average number of days between orders for this SKU at this customer |
| POD Latest Status | Current status: New, Existing, At-Risk, Recovered, or Lost |
| Sales Amount | Total sales dollars for this SKU-customer combination over the selected time period |
| Days Since Last Order | Number of days since the last shipment to this customer |

### How to use it

1. **Filter to lost PODs.** Add the **POD Latest Status** filter and select **Lost** to see all your current voids.
2. **Sort by sales impact.** Sort the **Sales Amount** column in descending order to surface the voids with the greatest revenue impact.
3. **Investigate.** For your top-priority voids, check whether there's sufficient inventory at the relevant DC (see [Inventory Product Detail](/docs/support/articles-Dot-Inventory-Flow-Analysis-report)), whether the customer has stopped ordering entirely or just this SKU, and whether a pricing or service-level issue is driving the loss.
4. **Export and share.** Export the filtered list of priority voids to share with your sales team, broker, or Dot BDM for follow-up.

### Why retention analysis matters

Recovering lost PODs has a compounding effect across your Crisp at Dot dashboards:

* **Performance Insights** — Recovered PODs increase your sales dollars, volume, and velocity.
* **Inventory Flow Analysis** — Recovered demand helps optimize weeks of supply and reduces overstock at DCs.
* **Distribution Analysis** — Recovered PODs improve your category penetration and customer count.

This is why Retention Detail is the dashboard where analysis most directly converts to revenue.

### Tips

* **Create a bookmark** for your "Lost PODs, sorted by sales impact" view so you can check it regularly.
* **Use filter groups** to separate voids by region or product line and assign them to the appropriate sales rep.
* **Monitor at-risk PODs weekly.** Catching a POD while it's at-risk — before it becomes lost — is much easier than recovering a void.
